Quinta do Convento da Nª Sª da Visitação – Vineyards with a view to the sea.. Colares – The Most “Ridiculous” Wine Region in the World

Adega Mãe

Text João Pedro de Carvalho

The Adega Mãe project is the result of the most recent investment by the Ribeiralves Group, recognized by the trade and processing of codfish, now in the wine business after the purchase of a property near Torres Vedras. On 45 acres, among olive groves and orchards, reign 35 hectares of vineyard divided between reds (Aragonez, Caladoc, Alicante Bouschet and Syrah) and whites (Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Arinto, Viosinho, Viognier, Riesling and Alvarinho).

The first harvest was in 2010, only reds, in a project where the main objective is making the best possible wine and sell it at a below average price. The Ribeiralves Group and Codfish go hand in hand, and in one of the brands there is a tribute to the small and agile boat, a little more than five meters long, that departing from the Bacalhoeiros, only returned with its interior full of fish. This typical boat was called Dory by the British, the name that appears as one of the wine brands from Adega Mãe.

The wine cellar is very beautiful and is well framed by the landscape; the highlight is the beautiful panoramic view from the main balcony. Everything has been thought down to the smallest detail to promote enotourism, from the wine store to other numerous offers ranging from visits, to tastings, to meals…
